I play a 5-string & I just sort of made up my own hybrid style. started out with just my nails for picking & struming but after they wore down to the quick , I had to learn to use picks (3 finger & a thumb). mainly rhythm spiced with a bit of fancy picking, I call it swamp glam or (jokingly) slop hammer. I played with a jug band www.hobogoblins.com for a while & this further defined the style I had started which is not based in any of the traditional styles which prevail but rather in expirimentation, songwriting (I started with a guitar) & rhythm (trance). this is an element of my overall craft which is my one man band set up.
